Welcome

My name is Leanne Emery AKA the Urban Hermit. My goal is to mentor women on their spiritual journeys. My soul hunger for a spirit connection with God came at the early age of five and has never left me. It is what drives me and when I choose to ignore that hunger; my life path becomes overwhelming, dark, and lacks fulfillment. It is the Grace of God that has always brought me back. That is the reason I am here today sharing with all of you.

I am not so different than many of you who experience this wonderful world we live in as the FAST TRACK! That can and is often exciting and definitely feeds our EGO. (Easing God Out). It happens so easily by getting caught up in the world i.e. there are places to go, people to see, things to do, tasks that must be accomplished, new ideas, new products. . . I could go on and on forever! Maybe you can relate to my experience. What often happens is I become unaware and begin to focus on the whirlwind of life and eventually I am thrown into a brick wall! Not a soft landing. It appears that is how God gets my attention. Believe me; I have hit that wall many times. It may feel like I am back at square one and begin again, but the truth is it is a different wall, in a different time, on this path of life. But I must saying after hitting the wall often enough I discovered, there is another way! Thus the journey began to embrace the Urban Hermit.

While traveling this journey called life, I have become a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and married my soul mate, Michael. My career has taken me from a stay at home mom, to an administrative assistant, a college student at forty, marketing programs and speaking throughout the 92 counties of Indiana, teaching at a junior college, owning my own business, chaplaincy, and direct sales. However my heart and soul has always been in my non paying passion of working with women, providing spiritual companionship, leading small spirituality groups, retreat work, etc. It was there I founded Mary Ministries and the life of an Urban Hermit.

Thus began the Urban Hermit Blog which is located at the Neighborhood Boutiques. (www.neighborhoodboutiques.com/urbanhermit) There I blog on Wednesdays with “Wisdom Words for Hump Day”. We hear all the hype around Hump Day, and there is truth in that idea when we are focused on getting through the week. Each week there is a word for reflection on which to ponder for the remainder of the week.

In addition to the “Wisdom Words”, I will also be blogging here on Leanne the Hermit personal site I will begin blogging the second Sunday of the month with a blog called “Soul Food for Sunday.” It is my hope that you will find something inspiring and soul touching in which to ponder on your own life and your relationship with God.
