Happy New Year Everyone!
As one year ends and another begins, it has always been my practice to reflect and pray on what God wants for my focus for the New Year. This year was no exception. So after prayer and discernment my word for 2016 is “Trust”. Below is my first Blog for 2016 and reflect on this word and what lies ahead.
“Trust the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
The beginning of another New Year! How exciting is that? Many reflect on last year and think 2016 has to be better. Others have met with difficulties and tragedies and are questioning what 2016 has to offer. As I reflect on all
of that the one word that comes to me is “Trust”. I am however, aware that is a difficult word for most of us. As I have journeyed further both in this physical life and my spiritual life, I have grown wiser. What I have come to know is there is always a question that needs to be asked. Who do I trust?
Do I trust in myself – in others – or God? I don’t know about you, but as much as I want to trust myself and others, the reality is if God is not part of that equation. trust does not work. Each year have we made resolutions only to have them die out in a few weeks? How many times have we relied on others to pull us through only to be ultimately disappointed? I know that I have asked thing of God before which then appear to have been ignored or denied. So where does all this lead me?
Man says…show me and I will trust you. God’s reply is trust me and I will show you. The problem with us in this human life is that we are very limited and yet we want to see the whole picture. God says trust me and walk in faith
and the picture will be revealed. God’s ways are not our ways.
Life is about making choices. Our ability to make choices was a God given gift from the beginning. He does and always has given us a choice to be in relationship with Him or to go our own way. If you are like me, I have done a little of both. At times I have even thought I was following God’s plan only to have it blow up or disappear in front of me. That’s when I find myself once again faced with this word “Trust”.
The truth is God does have a plan for me. God has a plan for you. God always has a plan. Do we trust His plan? Will we continue to follow? Follow even when we don’t see the whole picture. Follow even after it appears to disappear. Follow when we reach a fork in the road that looks easier or more inviting than God’s sign post.
For me in this New Year of 2016 my word for the year is “Trust”. I am trusting in Papa God! I am trusting in His
Promises as they were revealed in His Son Christ Jesus. Do I know what this New Year has in store? No! I haven’t been given the full picture because God says “Trust me!” He will unveil his plan step by step and with each step I will thank him for what I have and continue to trust Him for what is still needed.
Will you join me on this new and exciting journey through this New Year 2016 and begin to “Trust God?” I am excited to see what He has in store for me and you!
Blessings and a Blessed New Year,
Leanne the Urban Hermit
